Tickets: $35

Join us for An Afternoon Recital featuring songs and arias that highlight strong female characters with a Spanish flair. Mezzo-soprano Kylee Slee and pianist Louise Lofquist bring their artistry and experience to this intimate and inspiring performance to benefit Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra (CHICO).

The program includes arias from Carmen, Samson and Delilah, and Candide, along with art songs by Pauline Viardot, Maria Malibran, Erik Satie, and others—music that celebrates character, color, and emotion through the power of voice and piano.

Kylee Slee, an American mezzo-soprano currently performing with Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, has appeared on opera stages throughout Europe and the United States. Her notable roles include Mercédès in Carmen, Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer, and Charlotte in Werther. A graduate of Pepperdine University and Boston University, she has also performed as alto soloist at Boston Symphony Hall and teaches voice in both English and German.

Louise Lofquist, contralto and pianist, debuted with the National Symphony at age 18 and has since enjoyed a multifaceted musical career. A respected collaborative pianist and vocal coach, she has performed with artists such as Gilles Apap, Rod Gilfry, and Zuill Bailey. A longtime faculty member at Pepperdine University, she co-directed its Heidelberg Summer Music Program for over two decades and continues to perform and teach in Ventura County.

Experience an afternoon of expressive music-making that bridges cultures, celebrates artistry, and supports live performance and music education in our community.
