Oct  12 & 13 – American Landscapes
World premiere of The Channel Islands Orchestral Suite by Ashley Broder, commissioned by CHICO – a meditative set of tone poems inspired by the eight islands.  The concert will include Santa Monica Mountains by composer Bevan Manson which was commissioned by CHICO in 2015 – a piece with more of a jazz influence that contrasts the quiet mood of the Channel Islands with a more frantic feel of traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway. Plan on attending a presentation of slides and discussion of biological diversity, vulnerabilities and preservation of the Channel Islands – starts an hour before the concert.  Saturday October 12, 7pm Camarillo;  Sunday October 13, 3pm Ventura
Dec  7 & 8  ‘Tis the Season of Swing
Miriam Arichea will bring her Broadway Juniors to sing music of the season. In addition, Miriam will perform the Gershwin Piano Concerto in F Major which will give us a fun, jazzy and joyous program to lead us into the holiday season. Saturday December 7, 7pm Camarillo; Sunday December 8, 3pm Ventura
April 4 & 5 – Choral Spectacular!
This concert series is a confluence of the myriad skills of our Artistic Director, KuanFen Liu.  It is a combined result of her considerable talents in both orchestral and choral conducting.  It also is a partnership of the orchestra with the Channel Islands Choral Association and Choir of the California State University at Channel Islands.  The power of combining full orchestra with large choir is mind-bending and a rare experience. Saturday April 4, 7pm Camarillo; Sunday April 5, Ventura.
June 6 & 7 –  Music, Words, Opera!
Drama comes with any Night at the Opera and usually enhanced by the demise of the soprano.  Regardless, this is always a popular and well-attended concert of the season because of the glory of the music and the familiar themes chosen.  This year, we are planning favorite excerpts from opera scenes which will provide context and a theatrical element to the music. Saturday June 6, 7pm Camarillo; Sunday June 7, 3pm Ventura
