Mezzo-soprano Chelsea Melamed has been recognized for her commanding stage presence which “lifts every scene in which she appears.” (Pittsburgh Tribune) Chelsea is currently the mezzo Mosher Studio Artist with Opera Santa Barbara. This season she will sing Javotte in Manon, cover Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and perform Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti. Recent role highlights include Dorothée (Cendrillon) and Page of Herodias (Salome) at CCM, as well as Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Opera Theater Pittsburgh. Other notable performances include Meg in Adamo’s Little Women, and the Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods). Major concert works include Hadyn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Rossini’s Stabat Mater. Professional credits: Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Theater Pittsburgh, Livermore Valley Opera, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Marin Baroque. A native of Ventura, CA, Chelsea Melamed studied at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Lawrence University. She lives in San Francisco.
