Fredric Beerstein has been a member of CHICO since 2017 and is now thrilled to occupy the Bruce Walker oboe chair in our orchestra. Fred, an oboe instructor at California Lutheran University, has been a member of the New West Symphony since its inception in 1995. From 1984 to 1994, he was the principal oboe of the Bakersfield Symphony. Other professional experiences include Los Angeles film and commercial recording as well as performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. Teaching experience includes 17 seasons at the Summer Program of the Idyllwild Arts Academy, Bocal Majority/Operation oboe Summer Camps and a large private studio.
