Orchestral Magic –  We will open our 16th season with a program that includes Bernstein’s Candid Overture, Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments (R. Strauss), New World Symphony (Dvorak), and the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1 with Pepperdine music professor Louise Lofquist as the soloist. Friday, October 12th at 7:30pm at SMM; Sunday, October 14th at 3pm at FUMC.


Hark! A CHICO Holiday Concert  – Inspired by the Rubicon Family Christmas, this concert will feature holiday musical selections from around the world, including staging and lighting designed by Brian McDonald and Miriam Arichea. Friday, November 30th at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 1st at 3pm and 7:30pm; Sunday, December 2nd at 3pm. All holiday concerts at RCHS.


Young Artists Series – Program includes David Shiang (14 year old): F. Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor op. 25 – first movement; Stephen Saw (16 year old): M. Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor Op. 26 – first movement; Noah Laber (15 year old): B. Marcello Oboe Concert in C minor – second movement; Rebecca Beerstein (16 year old): C. Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor Op. 61 – first movement. Friday, January 25th at 7:30pm at SMM; Sunday, January 27th at 3pm at FUMC.


World Music Series –  Music and instruments that are not from the Western tradition. We will feature an Erhu concerto with the orchestra, as well as the chamber orchestra version of the famous Chinese folk melody Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower) used in Puccini’s opera,  Turandot – bringing the West and the East together.
Friday, March 1st at 7:30pm at SMM; Sunday, March 3rd at 3pm at FUMC.


Choral Spectacular Goes to the Opera – For the first time, we will be combining our two most popular concerts into one gigantic event. CHICO, The Channel Islands Choral Association and outstanding soloists will join talents to present some of the best and most beloved choruses in opera.  We will perform music by Wagner, Bellini, Puccini and Verdi.  Friday, April 26th at 7:30pm;  Sunday, April 28th at 3pm.
